WWE RAW: The Hate Against Bianca Belair Perfectly Sums up Why John Cena Turned Heel

WWE superstars turning heel is nothing new in the company. Over the years, several superstars became different versions of themselves for different reasons. The latest in the list to turn heel against the WWE universe is John Cena, who transitioned from being the poster boy of the WWE universe to an angry WWE superstar full of rage against the fans themselves.

John Cena turning heel during the build-up to his clash against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 might be one of the most iconic moments in the WWE. Cena’s rage with the WWE universe became more evident during the subsequent editions of Monday-night Raw.

While fans still try to make sense of Cena’s changed tunes, a recent booing incident Bianca Belair had to face during her altercation with Rhea Ripley points out why a superstar like Cena has changed tunes at this point in his career.

Bianca Belair scores a fair point only to get booed by the WWE fans

The incident between Bianca Belair and the fans who booed her occurred during the latest edition of Monday Night Raw when she was involved in a verbal spat with Rhea Ripley with Iyo Sky in the background as the three of them are now involved in a women’s triple threat match for the Women’s World Championship match.

Bianca Belair lashed on at Rhea, who, according to her, was the latent entry in the match as she worked her way to the top to face Iyo Sky for the title at WrestleMania 41. The fans, however, did not like what she had to say on the whole situation and instead gave a rather depressing response by booing her.

Bianca Belair’s frustration did not come without reason. The former WWE Women’s Champion had to fight her way to reach the peak of her glory days once again in the company, winning the high-stakes contest in the Elimination Chamber and becoming the special referee during the recent clash between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley.

Now, with Rhea right in contention to win the coveted title, Bianca Belair’s frustration knew no bounds. The discouragement from the WWE fans echoed the kind of points John Cena has been raising regarding the toxic nature of the fans, which in turn became the reasons why we see him as he is right now.

John Cena turned heel because of the fan treatment he received over the years

John Cena was the darling of the WWE fans until it became too much for him to bear. The resounding applause, cheers, and love of the fans were all for a John Cena that existed on-stage. That is the central point that Cena has tried to make post-Elimination Chamber developments in the WWE.

But whenever he tried to show them the other side of John Cena, the fans would try to derail him. Maybe that is why it became so easy for the 16-time WWE Champion to sell his soul to The Rock and compete against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 as The Rock’s representative more than the heart of the company.

With a heel Cena more angry and devastating in the squared ring, will Bianca Belair pull out a similar stunt after the kind of booing she was subjected to? Only time has the answer to this question.

WrestleMania 41 is scheduled on Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 7 PM (ET)/4 PM (PT), streaming live on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
