Two more arrested over North-South Expressway obstruction incident

REMBAU: Two more suspects believed to be involved in obstructing traffic on the North-South Expressway near the Pedas-Linggi lay-by have been arrested.

District police chief Superintendent Hasani Hussain said the two men, aged 31 and 35, were detained at the Rembau district police headquarters around midnight on Saturday.

“The suspects are believed to have been in the vehicle seen obstructing traffic in the viral video.

“They were arrested after voluntarily turning themselves in.

“No items have been seized so far, and investigations are ongoing to determine their specific roles,” he said when contacted.

Hasani added that the suspects have been remanded until July 7, while a third suspect arrested earlier is being held until July 8.

“We are in the process of completing the investigation papers before submitting them to the Deputy Public Prosecutor,” he said.

He also noted that several individuals remain at large, believed to be vehicle repossession agents involved in the incident, and efforts to track them down are underway.

It was reported that three cars were caught on camera deliberately blocking all lanes of the expressway at the location.

The act, deemed dangerous, went viral on social media and sparked public outrage.
