Police said the alarm was raised after they received reports at around 3.20pm.

Officers confirmed that a 66-year-old man was found unresponsive next to his Specialized bike.

However, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The grim discovery was made on the part of the road which is known locally as Raspberry Hill.

Police have confirmed that enquiries into the death are ongoing.

However, the force has said that they do not believe that any other vehicle is involved.

Cops are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

They are urging anyone who may have seen something, or anyone who may know something, to speak with officers.

They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area from the time of the crash.

Sergeant Douglas Scott said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.

“There are not believed to be any other vehicles involved in the incident and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“If you were in the area around the time of this incident, please get in touch with officers.

“We are also asking drivers to check dash-cam to see if there is something recorded that could help our enquiries.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1956 of 7 April.
