KUALA LUMPUR: Aimed at discovering the country’s next great screenwriters, the Thousands Of Years Media (TOYM) Micro Drama Scriptwriting Competition recently announced its top winners.
Organised by Thousands Of Years Media (TOYM) and co-presented by Sunstrong Entertainment, TOYM Wardrobe, WMD, and Flowers.com.my, it saw its winners honoured at a grand ceremony in the Majestic Marine Ballroom @ Confetti KL in Mines 2, Seri Kembangan, Selangor last Sunday.
The TOYM Micro Drama Scriptwriting Competition also came with the Best Micro Drama Competition, and both received over 300 submissions from screenwriters and creative talents across Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
TOYM and Sunstrong Entertainment founder Jment Lim said: “Over the years, TOYM has invested substantial resources and unwavering dedication into a series of original creative initiatives, including the TOYM Shining Star Idol Competition, the TOYM Micro Drama Scriptwriting Competition and the TOYM Best Micro Drama Competition, all of which give Malaysian talents a vital platform to showcase their abilities while raising the standards of local content production.”
He added: “In recent years, we have made significant strides in the areas of film, micro drama and music, and the feature film Snow In Midsummer won the Uncaged Award for Best Feature Film at the 23rd New York Asian Film Festival and the Firebird Award for Best Film in the Young Cinema Competition (Chinese Language) at the 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival.
“It was also selected for prestigious screenings including the Venice International Film Festival—bringing Malaysian storytelling to a global audience.”
The grand prize winner of the scriptwriting competition (RM30,000) was Murderous Girl, while the runner-up (RM20,000) was The Invisible Killer.
There were five consolation prize (RM5,000) winners namely Gokill, To New Students, Office Battle Royale, A Very Tiring Day and Healing Hearts.
The drama competition grand prize winner (RM100,000) was The Girl From The Other Side Of The Galaxy, while the runner-up (RM50,000) was Step Back.
The consolation prize (RM10,000) winners were The Delivery Vault, Devour, Miss Ctrl+Z, Satu Malam Di PJ and She Is Coming.
