‘He is in media training already’ – Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy in stitches at star’s son’s TV interview at Masters
SHANE LOWRY and Rory McIlroy couldn’t believe what they were hearing after Tommy Fleetwood’s son spoke to Sky Sports.
Frankie Fleetwood, 7, was one of many kids of golf stars that were a Augusta National on the eve of The Masters on Wednesday.

The youngster took part in a TV interview with Sky Sports, during which he was asked about his preparation for striking the ball off the ninth tee,
His answer was remarkably mature, as he responded: “Well, I have been doing my hardest to get it over the green.
“I have been practising as hard as I can just not reaching it this year but I am just trying my hardest.
His composure left his dad, Shane Lowry, and Rory McIlroy all in fits of giggles, with the Offaly man summing up their reaction.
He remarked: “Fleetwood has him in media training already.”
It was a lovely and wholesome day on Wednesday with the traditional curtain-raiser Par Three Contest.
Before all of the ‘serious business’ of the world’s best pros scrapping it out for the Green Jacket gets going, it gave golfers the chance to savour a few holes with their nearest and dearest.
Rory was caddied by wife Erica whilst their daughter Poppy donned official attire too as she also tagged along.
The four-year-old did more than just that though as she exhibited the whole ‘apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ saying on the ninth.
She gently caressed the ball down a tricky slope with it eventually trickling its way into the hole. Cue bedlam.
Shane Lowry was just as pumped as Rory, with the watching patrons also blown away by Poppy’s soft touch around Augusta’s infamously difficult greens.
Shane was equally aided around the course by other half Wendy and their daughters Iris and Ivy.
Both mam and dad reflected on what a joyful occasion they find it to be every year.
Wendy captioned one cute snap: “The best day”. Meanwhile Shane added: “Favourite Wednesday every year!”
As for how McIlroy in particular will fare around its fairways on Thursday and Friday as well as hopefully the weekend, he yesterday revealed he’s turned to hypnosis to banish the “scar tissue” of previous Masters failures.
McIlroy says he now has the mentality to conquer Augusta and complete golf’s Grand Slam.
The Holywood hotshot, 35, said: “Scar tissue is real and I believe in trying everything to help deal with it. That is why I tried hypnosis a year or so ago.
“People accumulate more scar tissue at Augusta because you go back there every year.
“You remember the shots, you remember the place you were.”
McIlroy also conceded the memory of his infamous 2011 meltdown, when a final-round 80 on the famous course saw him blow a four-shot lead, had haunted him.
He acknowledged: “If we didn’t go back there every year, what happened to me in 2011 wouldn’t have become such a big deal.
“Last year I was put in hypnotic states to see if it helped. I felt really good straight after the hypnosis.
“But I don’t think it helped a ton. I’ve figured out the way I need to think and way I need to process things to do well on the course.”
Truck driver who struck Conor Murray’s dad had hit & run conviction as court told victim missed rugby star son’s wedding
A TRUCK driver who seriously injured a man after driving through a stop-sign junction was previously convicted of drink driving, hit and run and careless driving, a court heard.
Gerry Murray, dad of Munster and Ireland rugby star Conor Murray, was cycling home around 3pm on February 7, 2023 when truck driver Seamus Hanrahan, who was pulling a slurry tanker, struck him.

Mr Murray, 70, sustained a significant brain injury.
He had to re-learn how to walk and talk properly, through a gruelling regime of medical therapies, Limerick Circuit Criminal Court heard.
Hanrahan, 53, Kilmore, Granagh, Co Limerick, pleaded guilty to one count of careless driving causing serious bodily harm to Mr Murray on February 7, 2023.
Prosecuting barrister, Lily Buckley BL, told Hanrahan’s sentencing hearing that the married father-of-three from a well-known pig-farming family, was travelling within the speed limit at approximately 8-10kph, along a slip road to the N20 on the day.
Ms Buckley said Hanrahan “didn’t stop when he should have” at the junction, despite road markings and a red stop sign indicating road users must stop before moving out onto the main road.
Hanrahan, who passed a Garda roadside breathalyser test for alcohol and drugs, remained at the scene after the collision and put his coat over Mr Murray, the court heard.
Mr Murray was treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
Doctors there diagnosed him with a “severe traumatic brain injury”, a fractured skull, and bleeds to his brain.
Mr Murray’s condition deteriorated at UHL and he was transferred to Cork University Hospital.
He was put into a medically induced coma and monitored in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for seven days.
In a victim impact statement read out in court, Mr Murray said the first he knew of the collision was when he woke out of his coma in hospital two and half weeks afterwards.
Mr Murray added: “The next five weeks were spent learning to walk and doing all the basic tasks in life.
“I have constant tinnitus and have lost my hearing in my left ear.”
PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS
Mr Murray said he “missed” his son’s wedding abroad because doctors advised him “not to fly because of the fractures to my skull, so I missed what was a major family event”.
The court heard Hanrahan had convictions for road traffic matters, including an offence of dangerous driving reduced to careless driving; hit and run, failing to remain at the scene of a collision; drunk driving; failure to display a current vehicle licence, and driving an untaxed vehicle.
The maximum sentence available to the court is one of two years in prison and or a €10,000 fine or both.
The court can also impose a driving ban.

Rebekah Vardy breaks cover & reveals she’s ‘disappointed’ after Coleen Rooney won latest round of Wagatha battle
REBEKAH Vardy revealed she is “disappointed” after Coleen Rooney won the latest round of their Wagatha Christie battle.
The Wag, 42, has today been ordered to pick up 90 per cent of Coleen’s bill – including an initial payment of £800,000 – after she sensationally lost the libel case.

A spokesperson for Rebekah said: “In terms of the two judgements today (10.04) we are gratified disclosure has been obliged in one ruling whilst being respectfully disappointed that, in the other judgement, our appeal was not successful.
“Now we just wish to move on and look to the future.
“We will be making no further comment at this time.”
It comes after she was dealt a further blow last October when a judge ordered Jamie Vardy’s wife to hand over a further £100,000 within 21 days.
Rebekah also lost a bid to slash former I’m A Celeb star Coleen‘s costs, which have been put at £1,833,906.89.
She launched an appeal against the October decision – accusing Coleen’s team of “serious misconduct”.
But the mum-of-two’s bid was dismissed today following a hearing at the High Court.
Mr Justice Cavanagh found the previous judge had “ample material” to reach his decision and that there was “no valid basis for challenging on appeal the judge’s conclusion”.
He added: “The appeal must fail on the basis that the judge was entitled to reach the conclusion that he came to.”
In a separate ruling, Rebekah also largely lost a bid for access to more documents in relation to costs – including details about her claim for VAT.
Senior Costs Judge Mark Whalan said he was “not persuaded” her team should be able to inspect privileged material but ruled they could see a redacted retainer.
Rebekah’s barrister Jamie Carpenter KC previously claimed Coleen “very substantially understated” her legal costs by around 40 per cent in her budget.
He also accused her team of understating some of her costs to “attack the other party’s costs”.
Mr Carpenter added: Although the costs judge was critical of Mrs Rooney’s lawyers for their lack of transparency, he held ‘on balance’ and ‘only just’ that there was no misconduct.
“It is respectfully submitted that he was wrong to do so.”
The barrister said a “proportionate sanction” for the alleged misconduct would be to limit the amount of Coleen’s legal costs up to August 2021 to £220,955.07.
But Benjamin Williams KC, for Coleen, said the budget was “properly and correctly completed” and there was “no tenable case” of misconduct.
He added: “Mrs Rooney’s primary position is that, in this, she and her solicitors were adopting the right approach; but even if this is not correct, it was a reasonable approach.”
In October, Senior Costs judge Andrew Gordon-Saker found “on balance and, I have to say, only just”, that team Coleen had not committed any wrongdoing.
As a result, he ruled it would therefore not be “appropriate” to reduce the amount of money Rebekah should pay – meaning she could still be landed with a £1.6million bill.
It came after Mr Carpenter accused Coleen’s team of “deliberately deceiving” the court by underestimating costs and time spent working on the case.
He also claimed Coleen’s team had adopted a “kitchen sink approach” when calculating the total.
The lawyer claimed the bill included costs for one of Coleen’s team to stay at the five star Nobu Hotel.
It also included “substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges”, the lawyer said.
He said Coleen’s legal bill – £1,833,906.89 – was more than three times her “agreed costs budget of £540,779.07”.
But Robin Dunne, for Coleen, argued it was “frankly outrageous” to accuse them of dishonesty.
He also said Rebekah had shown “deplorable conduct” in the case and and costs could have been lower if “she conducted this litigation appropriately”.
The lawyer added: “This was a libel claim which Mrs Vardy chose to launch, despite knowing that the Instagram post was true.
“Mrs Vardy refused to engage with Mrs Rooney to try and avoid these proceedings and by her conduct meant that significant additional costs were required to be incurred by Mrs Rooney.
“It sits ill in Mrs Vardy’s mouth to now claim that Mrs Rooney’s costs, a great deal of which were caused directly by her conduct, are unreasonable.”
Rebekah brought the multi-million pound case to court after she was accused of leaking stories to the press.
But Coleen – wife of ex-England ace Wayne – won the epic libel battle in 2022 – bringing an end to the three-year saga.
The row erupted back in October 2019 when Coleen turned detective and accused Rebekah of sharing stories from her personal Instagram account.

Watch the shock moment furious Mickey Rourke hits back at Big Brother saying ‘come in here and put a GUN up my a**!’
MICKEY Rourke refuses to take part in Celebrity Big Brother nominations tonight in a heated Diary Room moment.
The actor launches into a stubborn rant in a teaser for Thursday’s episode.

After an already explosive week, Mickey, 72, puts up a fight again when it comes to the ITV show’s strict rules.
He tells Big Brother: “I will no pick two people to toss of the show.
“You could come in here and put a gun up my a**’ I’m not doing it.”
The other housemates are forced to make their choices, after a tense few days getting to know each other.
Angelica Bell picks Michael Fabricant saying he makes her feel “invisible” in the house.
In a surprise move, Michael nominates Patsy Palmer because she offended him when she asked his reason for wearing a wig.
In the sneak peek at nominations, a shaken Ella Rae Wise is seen nominating Chesney Hawkes, accusing him of ignoring her all week.
Rourke is already facing the first public vote after JoJo Siwa was handed a killer nomination earlier this week.

It comes after Mickey, 72, was scolded again for tampering with the cameras and removing his mic.
Now Celebrity Big Brother viewers claim they’ve worked out the reason he’s been rebelling all week.
They’ve said he wants to take his reported six-figure show fee and have an early exit.
On a Reddit thread entitled Mickey wants out, one fan wrote of the star,m who is thought to have been paid £500,000 by ITV: “I may be wrong and giving his thought process too much credit, but I feel like Micky made those comments to Jojo to intentionally p**s her off.
“I think he wanted to get her to use the killer nomination on him so he could skedaddle.”
A second posted: “I completely agree with you. He’s the most highest paid housemate and it’s clear he only wants the money and doesn’t care about his image.”
Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
