The sunshine spot with fabulous beaches, 28C heat, some of Europe’s cheapest pints and €30 Ryanair flights from Dublin
TAKE a look at the sunshine spot with fabulous beaches, 28C heat, some of Europe’s cheapest pints and €30 Ryanair flights from Dublin.
Praia da Rocha is a stunning coastal town in Portugal.

The hottest month in this stunning sunshine spot is August, but with temperatures reaching near 30C in early summer now is the perfect time to visit.
Often described as “the Algarve’s hidden gem”, Praia da Rocha is famous for its dramatic cliffs, fabulous beaches and some of the cheapest pints in Europe.
And Ryanair flights from Dublin to Faro, an hour’s drive away, start at only €30 this month.
Located in southern Portugal, this beach town draws thousands of visitors every year due to its stunning coastline and relaxed atmosphere.
And even though it’s known as one of Europe’s most budget friendly destinations, it is also home to lots of the Algarve’s exclusive resorts and villas.
The town is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, offering stunning sea views and loads of chances to swim, surf or relax on the beach.
Water sports are hugely popular with visitors during summer, and Praia da Rocha is known for its crystal-clear water and safe swimming spots.
The town is home to a fabulous marina, where visitors can see luxury yachts docked with fishing boats, alongside plenty of seaside restaurants and bars.
Close by, you’ll find some of the breathtaking beaches in all of Portugal.
That includes Praia do Vau and Praia dos Tres Castelos – both famous for their rock formations, golden sands and turquoise waters.
For those looking to do something a bit different, from the coast you can hop on boat tours to explore sea caves, dolphin-watch or cruise along the Algarve cliffs.
Praia da Rocha also has a rich history, with the 17th-century Santa Catarina Fort offering stunning views over the Atlantic ocean.
You can also visit the Portimao Museum, located in an old fish cannery where visitors can learn about the town’s fishing and maritime heritage.
If you’re up for an adventure, the breathtaking Monchique Mountains are nearby – offering tourists hiking trails and breathtaking sea views.
The town also has delicious seafood, especially grilled sardines and cataplana – a traditional Portuguese seafood stew that’s packed with flavour.
If beer is more your thing, expect to pay only €3 for a pint at a bar or pub along the strip.
Praia da Rocha’s nightlife kicks off as early as spring, with tons of bars, beach clubs and live music venues located along the promenade.
The town also hosts events like the Sardine Festival and summer beach parties, which draw crowds from across Europe.
And budget airlines offer flights to Faro from major European cities – including Dublin.

Major warning to ALL dog owners over ‘lethal’ mistake that could see you fined £5,000 & slapped with 9 points on licence
A MAJOR warning has been issued to all dog owners over a “lethal mistake” that could see you fined £5,000.
Cops raised the alarm after officers were forced to smash a car window to free a pooch in danger.

Derbyshire Police responded to reports on Wednesday after the four-legged animal was spotted in distress.
It had been left inside a “very hot” Citroen Picasso in Clay Cross by an “irresponsible dog owner”.
The incident sparked a warning from the force that cars can become “hot as an oven” even in spring months such as April.
A spokesperson said: “Many people think it’s OK to leave their dog in the car if they’re parked in the shade or the windows are open.
“When it’s 22 degrees outside, the car could reach an unbearable 47 degrees within an hour.
“It’s very dangerous and will cause your dog suffering and harm.”
The RSPCA urged anyone who sees a dog inside a vehicle showing signs of heat stroke to call 999.
You should also do your best to locate the pet’s owner.
If you’re near a shop, notify staff and security who will more than likely try to use the tannoy to arouse their attention.
Is it legal to smash a window to rescue a dog?
If the intent of you forcing entry is to rescue a distressed animal, you may be legally permitted to do so.
Solicitor Matthew Reynolds, who works for Kirwans law firm, told Cheshire Live: “Although smashing a window to rescue a distressed dog in a locked vehicle could lead to a charge of criminal damage, you would have a lawful excuse to smash the window if you believed that the owner of the vehicle would have consented to the damage, had they been aware of the circumstances.
“It would also be a defence to a charge of criminal damage if you smashed the window to protect the owner’s property (the dog) in the belief that the dog was in need of immediate protection and that smashing the window was reasonable in the circumstances to achieve that aim.
“If you do remove a dog from a car, tell the police what you intend to do and why. It would also be a good idea to take photographs or video of the dog and contact details of any witnesses to the incident.”
It comes after an animal expert pleaded with dog owners not to make this mistake ahead of summer road trips.
Elsewhere, one vet issued a stern warning and revealed the five urgent signs your dog may have heatstroke.
Is it illegal to leave a dog in a hot car?
According to the RSPCA, Brits could end up with a criminal record if something happens to their dog after it’s left alone in a car.
It is not illegal to leave a pet unattended in a vehicle but if the animal becomes ill or dies as a result, you could be charged with animal cruelty.
If convicted under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, drivers can be jailed for six months and slapped with an unlimited fine.
Motorists also face being slapped with nine point on their driving licence.
In May 2017, a motorist was given an 18-week prison sentence suspended for two years, banned from keeping animals for ten years, and ordered to pay £1,900 in fines after his three dogs died.
Jonathan Theobald had left the pets in his car for five hours and said he “misjudged the weather very badly”.
At what temperature is it safe to leave dogs in cars?
Motorists should be more aware of the dangers of leaving pets shut in a car.
But even in normal weather, a car can quickly become “as hot as an oven”.
A car sitting in 24C conditions outside can reach 34C in just ten minutes and a dangerous 43C after half an hour – making it risky to leave your pet alone even for a short time.
Some people think leaving the window open a crack or parking in the shade is enough to keep a dog comfortable.
But the RSPCA warns even with those measures a car can become like a sauna very quickly.
When the temperature is a relatively cool 22C, the inside of a car can rise to 47C in just 60 minutes.
The RSPCA’s website warns: “Many people still believe that it’s OK to leave a dog in a car on a warm day if the windows are left open or they’re parked in the shade, but the truth is, it’s still a very dangerous situation for the dog.
“A car can become as hot as an oven very quickly, even when it doesn’t feel that warm.”
In June 2018, two police officers in York were forced to smash a car’s window to free two Labradors left for half an hour in 28C heat.
What are the signs of heatstroke in a dog?
- Panting heavily
- Drooling excessively
- Appearing lethargic, drowsy or uncoordinated
- If the dog is collapsed or vomiting

Coronation Street hunk making shock return to soap 25 years after affair plot that broke up show’s most iconic couple
A CORONATION Street hunk is making a shock return to the soap more than 25 years after a steamy affair storyline that tore iconic couple apart.
However, there is a twist in the tale as the actor won’t be making a comeback to his former role.

Instead, The Sun can reveal that he will be playing a totally new character.
Actor Dominic Rickhards previously played therapist Michael Wall who was responsible for the break up of iconic couple Jim and Liz McDonald in the late nineties.
It tore the McDonald family apart and left fans reeling at seeing Jim and Liz splitting.
But now actor Dominic is set to play a new character as part of Daisy Midgeley’s impending exit storyline.
He will play the part of the seemingly charming Dom Norwood.
The character will first appear in episodes airing next week when he arrives as the mystery man who Rovers landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) has been talking to on her dating app.
Dom charms Jenny and lures her into investing in his business.
However the landlady is unaware that Dom has secretly been hired by Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and her mum Christina (Amy Robbins) to pose as the man that Jenny has been talking to online in a bid to con money from her.
It’s thought that Dominic will appear in multiple episodes as the plot intensifies over the coming weeks.
The storyline is part of Daisy’s forthcoming dramatic exit storyline after actress Charlotte Jordan quit the soap after five years.
Dominic’s first stint on the cobbles saw him play occupational therapist Michael Wall.
The actor appeared in the role for almost two years between 1998 – 2000.
The character was brought in as show legend Jim McDonald’s (Charlie Lawson) therapist following an accident which had left him crippled and unable to walk or look after himself.
Michael then went on to embark on a steamy affair with Jim’s wife Liz (Bev Callard) behind his back.
The pair later left Jim heartbroken when they revealed that they had been having an affair and were now in love and moving away together.
In 2000, the character exited the show after he and Liz broke off their engagement after Liz decided that she wanted to move back to Weatherfield.
Since leaving the soap the first time around, Dominic has appeared in a string of TV shows and films including Hollyoaks, Midsomer Murders, The Chelsea Detective and Waking the Dead.
He also appeared alongside Hollywood actor Steve Guttenberg in film The Well.
In 2001, Dominic was cast as one of the leads in ill fated ITV soap Night & Day.
Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.
This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.
Colson Smith – Craig Tinker
The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.
Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw
After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.
Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe
Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster
In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.
Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley
The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.
Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe
The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

Watch shock moment Tiffany Pollard takes cruel swipe at CBB’s Donna on live TV – and Will Best looks horrified
TIFFANY Pollard has taken a cruel swipe at Celebrity Big Brother housemate Donna Preston in an outburst on live TV.
The 2016 CBB housemate, 43, wasn’t no time in giving her opinion on the comedian, 38 – leaving Big Brother host Will Best horrified.

In a conversation on Celebrity Big Brother spin-off show Late & Live, the panel were discussing who they thought would be up for eviction next, with some saying Donna Preston.
Without warning, Tiffany shouted: “But she (Donna) knows how to order a cheese pizza!”
She then went onto to call Donna “plus size”.
Host AJ Odudu immediately snapped back: “So What?”
Tiffany then cruelly revealed why she would keep her in the house, and said: “Because she’s plus sized, she’d know how to order my dinner!”
The audience were horrified, as was host Will, who immediately addressed viewers at home and said: “We want her there because she is very funny and I personally think she’s a great housemate.”
FUED REIGNITED
Just hours before appearing on CBB’s Late & Live, Tiffany reignited her famous feud with Gemma Collins – almost a decade since they appeared on Celebrity Big Brother together.
Entering the house for the 2016 version of the reality TV favourite, ‘The GC’ and ‘New York‘ started off as mates.
However, their friendship soon devolved in iconic fashion over a pair of shoes – which Gemma gifted Tiffany for her birthday only to later take them back.
Appearing on This Morning today, Tiffany suggested that the hatchet still hadn’t been buried between them and never will be – suggesting their last words were shared the moment she left the house.
Speaking to Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, Tiffany said: “I was like, ‘Honey, I wouldn’t have given you those shoes back’, because her big everything knocked stones out of those shoes.
“I did look at those shoes and examine them. They were missing so many diamonds, girls, she could have kept them.”
When Alison quizzed if they ever DM each other, Tiffany said they will “never be that close”, but acknowledged: “What she did say when I left the house, she said ‘Well done’.”

THE FALL OUT
The infamous slanging match between the two stars has become cemented in Celebrity Big Brother history.
Gemma initially took back the designer shoes she gifted Tiffany after the now iconic ‘David is Dead’ incident – which saw Tiffany break down in shock believing their housemate, David Gest, had died.
In a now iconic moment, Angie Bowie told Tiffany that ‘David was dead’, but failed to clarify that she meant her ex-husband, David Bowie – and Gest was taking a nap at the time, so wasn’t present to correct her.
It was only when the news spread around the house that the truth came out, but Tiffany didn’t apologise for the mistake, prompting Gemma to remove the shoes from her.
Tiffany later let loose in the diary room in a rant that has since become a career-defining monologue, calmly hurling insults at the camera to get it out.
Asked what she wanted to tell Gemma, Tiffany told the Diary Room: “They were old maiden-type of shoes, and she said that those shoes were meant to be worn on a beautiful woman.
“So if that’s the case, she should have put them back on the rack, and she should never even purchase them because she was unqualified to own those shoes if that’s the case.”
She continued by branding Gemma a “disgrace to women who are actually beautiful and classy”.
“Somebody lied to her several times and told her that she was fly, hot, sexy and beautiful,” she concluded. “And she’s nothing like that, she’s nothing of the sort.”

Meanwhile, Ryanair could start buying planes from China as fears grow over the impact US tariffs, according to aviation analysts.
The airline may replace their favoured American-made Boeing 737 with the Chinese-made Comac C919, it’s been predicted.
Donald Trump’s tariff moves and the uncertainty they have created could now make the low-cost airline’s long interest in the Chinese alternative “a realistic option”, according to a note from analysts at Barclays.
Despite economic turmoil that many fear could hit the aviation sector, Barclays has maintained an overweight rating on the Irish airline, upping its price target for Ryanair shares from €22 to €23.
That would be a substantial gain for a share that last week was trading at below €19.
The analysts reported that they “would not be surprised to see Ryanair undertake opportunistic fleet decisions through the current uncertainty, as well as locking in favourable future fuel and USD hedges”
Barclays also said Ryanair was benefiting from the deferred impact of a weaker US dollar and fuel prices as a result of hedging.
It said: “While we expect pressure on European consumers from global economic instability, we expect Ryanair to outperform the broader European airline short-haul market in summer 2025.”
“But we see this as an opportunity for Ryanair to potentially recalibrate underlying pricing, buy more [Boeing 737] Max-8200 aircraft, or possibly consider the Comac 919 as a realistic option — given the tariff challenges.”
