17yo Johor Student Secretly Recorded While Bathing, Accuses School Of 'Refreshing' CCTV After Police Report

A 17-year-old student from Johor has come forward with serious allegations, stating that he was secretly recorded while showering during a school orchestra performance in June 2024.

According to his post, the incident occurred at around 6.00 pm on June 22, 2024.

He originally intended to shower in the first-floor toilet near the sports department but opted for the second-floor bathroom after finding the former crowded.

While using the second cubicle of the toilet near the academic office, he noticed someone peeking from the third cubicle, which was unusually quiet.

He then shouted “Hey!” in shock, but couldn’t see the person clearly due to not wearing his glasses.

Blackmail attempts followed a month later

In July 2024, he received a suspicious message from a Facebook user with the alias “汐小瓜,” (Xi Xiao Gua) who claimed to have a video of him showering.

The account featured an inappropriate profile photo and had no posts.

The sender described specific details from the shower incident, confirming the victim’s suspicion that the person who peeked at him had also filmed him.

The individual later demanded explicit photos in exchange for not sharing the video with his friends, claiming to be part of a group chat.

In panic, the student sent a random photo from the internet, prompting the sender to share several screenshots from the alleged video.

School delayed CCTV access, student lodges police report

After confiding in his mother, the student reported the matter to the school’s disciplinary unit, handled by two teachers.

He requested to view the CCTV footage to identify who had entered the restroom before him, but the teachers said only the principal could authorise access.

The next day, he filed a police report and obtained an official request for the school to allow him to view the footage.

The school agreed and told him the footage had been preserved.

However, he was later informed that the CCTV recordings had been “refreshed,” meaning the footage from the day of the incident was no longer available.

Fake account deleted after police involvement

The student stated that upon telling the perpetrator he had filed a police report, the fake Facebook account was immediately deleted.

Despite months of trying to follow up, he said he was met with delays and limited support.

He eventually shared his story online, hoping to raise awareness and possibly locate the person responsible.

He also urged students to remain vigilant, even in school restrooms, to avoid falling victim to similar incidents.
